About This Task

Add a product to the Product Explorer in your workspace. In the EnduraDocs Manager, a product represents a device from your portfolio. A product serves as a container for all the documentation files of its corresponding device, similar to a folder in a file system. Each product belongs to one workspace and is found in the Product Explorer.

Product Info

The product settings serve as the identifying properties connecting it to the device it represents and control how it is presented in the Documentation Portal and EnduraDocs Viewer.
Name
Serves as the identifier of the product. All product names must be unique. The product name is used in the EnduraDocs Manager, the Documentation Portal, and the EnduraDocs Viewer. Users and the operating personnel must be able to identify a product by its product name.
Image
Helps the user to recognize the product and connect it to the device it represents. An image of the complete device should work best. The image is used in the EnduraDocs Manager, the Documentation Portal, and the EnduraDocs Viewer.
Global Trade Item Number
Serves as an internationally used identifier. Developed by the GS1, the Global Item Trading Number (GTIN) allows you to track a device across multiple organizations and countries.
Associated Portals
List of Documentation Portals in which this product appears. If the product is assigned to no Documentation Portal, it can still be accessed in the EnduraDocs Viewer.

Instructions

  1. Arrow pointing to the right. Open the Product Explorer of your workspace.
  2. Arrow pointing to the right. Click "+ Product".
    Info icon. Ensure that you are not creating a duplicate. You should have only one product per device.
    Check mark. The product creation window opens.
  3. Arrow pointing to the right. Upload a PNG or JPG file to be used as product image in the EnduraDocs Manager and the EnduraDocs Viewer.
    Check mark. The image cropper opens.
  4. Arrow pointing to the right. Crop the image if necessary. Then click "Accept".
    Info icon. Your side ratio is fixed. If you omit cropping, the image is clipped in the UI.
    Check mark. The image is uploaded.
  5. Arrow pointing to the right. Enter a unique name for the product.
    Info icon. The product name is an identifying property. Thus, you cannot create multiple products with the same name.
  6. Arrow pointing to the right. Enter the Global Trade Item Number of the product.
  7. Select the Documentation Portals that the product should appear in.
    Products assigned to no Documentation Portal are still accessible in the EnduraDocs Viewer.
  8. Arrow pointing to the right. When the image upload is completed, click "Submit."
    Check mark. If you click "Submit" during upload, the image will not appear in the product info.
    Your new product is created in your workspace and you are moved to its product page.
