Revision Creation From iiRDS-Archive

Roles: Editor, Reviewer, Admin Plans: Starter, Pro, Advanced, Enterprise

Revision creation adds a new revision to your product with the structure and meta data choices from previous revisions, if any exist. The new revision will be in Draft state and can be edited at any time. When you provide an Archive the EnduraDocs Manager will set up your revision automatically. All compatible InformationUnits and metadata from your Archive are adopted for the revision, and you end up with a complete revision, provided your Archive contained all necessary files.

About Revisions

Revisions are like a snapshot of the uploaded documentation on a product. It contains documentation files of the product in the current version sorted according to the structure of Documents you set up. Products can have multiple revisions in different states, just as documentation files can have multiple versions. However, only the latest published revision of a product is accessible to the operating personnel in the EnduraDocs Viewer or Documentation Portal.

Process Overview

When create a revision from an Archive the revision creation process is mostly automated adopting the metadata from your Archive. Thus, you mainly need to upload at least one Archive.

1) Upload Archive
Upload at least one Archive with the documentation files of your product. Learn more.
2) Processing
Let the EnduraDocs Manager process the Archives and create the revision for you.
3) Close Revision Creation
Close the revision creation and continue by further editing your revision, or finalizing your revision.

If you upload multiple Archives, the EnduraDocs Manager merges them into one revision matching metadata according to the machine-readable identifiers used in your system. This may result in multiple instances of the same value for metadata like Documents, Components, or Subjects, if your metadata is inconsistently labelled.
